My recent 2 trips to Japan had me facing the same issue TWICE – how do I store luggage for x amount of time / days?! I don’t know why information on this is so scarce but I have found all the information you’d need on storing luggage in Tokyo!
#1: LEFT LUGGAGE SERVICE
These are manned counters where you can drop your luggage off without worrying about trying to fit it into a tiny locker.
Available at:
– TOKYO JR STATION (details) near the Marunouchi North Entrance (¥600 per piece, checked-in luggage must be reclaimed on the same day before close of business)
– HANEDA AIRPORT (details) on 2F/3F of international airport arrival terminal (¥300 – ¥800, storage up to 2 weeks)
– NARITA AIRPORT (details) at T1 and T2 (Three charge levels apply according to baggage size (small, medium and large) but a standard suitcase (medium) is ¥520)
#2: COIN LOCKERS
These are readily available in most train stations. This is a location map of where all the lockers are in each station.
Sizes & Costs
Small (¥300) – approx. 35cm x 43cm x 57cm (13in x 16in x 22in) By far the most common size, found in large numbers at virtually all stations
Medium (¥400) – approx. 57cm x 43cm x 57cm (22in x 16in x 22in) Available in small numbers at major stations
Large (¥500) – approx. 117cm x 43cm x 57cm (44in x 16in x 22in) Available in very small numbers at major stations
The large ones are often full so do allocate some time (and walking) to find available lockers!
#3: DELIVERY OF LUGGAGE
In the off chance you need your luggage delivered from hotel to airport, hotel to hotel, airport to hotel, you can check out:
– Narita Airport (details)
– Tokyo JR Station (details) near the Marunouchi North Entrance
– Haneda Airport (details)
So there you go! All the information you’ll need on storing luggage in Tokyo! Kthxbye!
