Mary Kay® Botanical Effects™ Skin Care is a new 4 step skin care range that promises to make your skin smile.
How do I make my skin smile?
Their products contain two nourishing botanical ingredients.
a) Silymarin – a powerful antioxidant that is great for calming skin.
b) Luo Han Guo – a fruit that also contains antioxidents and helps to promote healthy skin.
There are 3 formulas for you. Depending on your skin type (dry, normal or oily), you would be recommended by your skincare consultant on which range is best for you.
I had a questionnaire sheet filled out and the results showed that I have oily skin.

The oily skin range has 2 more special ingredients.
a) Kanuka Extract – Purifies the skin and help prevent clogged pores
b) Guava Extract – Yes, yummy guava fruit contains salicylic acid that act as an exfoliant to remove dead skin and unclog pores
There are 4 products under the Oily Range: 3-in-1 Cleanse, Freshen, Hydrate and Mask.
3-in-1 Cleanse effectively cleanses, exfoliates and freshens in one step.
A non-drying Freshen formula gently removes excess residue from the skin.
Hydrate quickly absorbs leaving skin feeling balanced.
A pampering Mask gently rids skin of impurities as it revitalizes skin.
Personalized skin care is a breeze with three formulas available with ingredients specifically tailored to each user’s skin care needs, whether they have dry, normal or oily skin – even if it’s sensitive.
So how was it?
I liked that the whole 3-in-1 Cleanse and Freshen set containing the cleanser, toner and moisturiser didn’t make my face oily, seeing how I have an oily face. I found the mask a tad too drying but it could also be because I used quite a fair bit of it on my face. It was also difficult to wash off (again, probably due to the thick layer I slathered on) but it did a great job in cleansing my skin deeply!
It is also suitable for sensitive skin ^^
