Tim Ho Wan is taking Singapore by storm! Very quickly since it’s first outlet opened at Plaza Singapura, today I attended the media food tasting for their 5th outlet at Aperia Lavender.
Aperia Lavender is a new shopping mall that is still extremely empty at the moment. It is directly in front of Pico Building, walkable about 5 mins from Lavender MRT station.
There are 3 special new dishes exclusively available at Tim Ho Wan’s brand at Aperia Lavender.
#1: Fried Sweet Potato Flour with Apple and Diced Chicken – $5.00
The executive chef came out and introduced this dish to us. This is not something that Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong has but it’s a new creation that was created in Singapore. Taking inspiration from a typical apple pie, the outside of these balls were crispy and the inside was overflowing with piping hot chicken, mushroom and apple bits.
Fondly nicknamed dragon eggs, I really enjoyed the exterior of it and the interior of it was quite filling. Do order to share!
#2: Crispy Seafood Rice Hor Fun – $6.80
This is another new dish exclusive to this branch. The noodles and sauce came in separate plates. When you pour the sauce of the noodles, the noodle makes an interesting crackling sound. This dish is a must try, tasting very much like what I’d call comfort food. It came with ingredients like prawn row, squid, and fish meat. Eat this while it’s hot!
#3: Pan Fried Dumplings with Leek – $4.50
This seems a little pricey but these were VERY GOOD! This deceivingly simple looking dish scored big points. Bite into this and expect an explosion of the tasty juice from the pork and leek. The balance between the two ingredients were perfect. I think I’ll order this again next time I go.
And of course, besides the 3 special new dishes above, we savoured other Tim Ho Wan’s specialities like their Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Pan Fried Carrot Cake, Steamed Egg Cake, Spinach Dumpling with Shrimp, Pork Dumpling with Shrimps, Chicken and Sausage Rice, and so on.
