Something to note when buying a baby carrier

My friend recommends getting a baby carrier over a pram. She says that it’s so much more convenient for her to just tie the baby to herself and walk “handsfree”. She gets on and off public transport a whole lot faster too. It lets her keep her baby close while getting other chores done.

My mother in law, however, feels that a baby carrier in Singapore’s weather is inappropriate. Primary reason being that it’s overly humid here and temperatures are high all year round. Having the baby so close to you will make both you and the baby, very very hot. That can lead to frustrations both from baby and me I guess.

Both have very valid points. What’s your take on this?

I’m still keeping my options open at the moment and we’re still exploring. I came across this infographic on baby carriers the other day. It was exactly what my friend told me to take note of. Check it out here:

So take note while you are choosing your baby carrier! I still haven’t managed to find time to narrow down brands I like. In fact all we’ve been doing is googling online. :(

The one brand that I highly recommend is Ergo. I have it since Sophie was 3, 4 months and it has served us well even now that she’s four! It takes up to 20kg and it gives excellent support. None of those awkward positions that you see above for baby.
