Pregnant as I am, but I know I need to get my ass up and start exercising. I checked out some prenatal exercises that I could participate in and decided on trying out Prenatal Pilates.
I have fitness goals like increasing my metabolism, flexibility and strength that I want to achieve but haven’t been able to because I didn’t know where I could go or do besides swimming. And swimming was getting a bit boring for me, so Prenatal Pilates it is!
Prenatal Pilates promotes a faster recovery after childbirth, relieves pregnancy discomfort, and prepares expecting mothers for a smoother delivery process. You may read more about the benefits of Prenatal Pilates here.
Prenatal Pilates at Pilates Fitness
Pilates Fitness offers Pilates classes that are designed to cater to your lifestyle needs.
They are also the first and only Pilates studio to offer Couple Pilates class in Singapore. Couple Pilates classes allow husbands to join their expecting wives in class! This not only helps to nurture the couple relationship, but also gets the couple physically and mentally fit and ready to bring up their newborn.
Ah-hah, the husband will be thrilled to know of this. He has been “experiencing pregnancy symptoms” like I do. -.- Bloatedness, feel fat, aches everywhere… etc. -.-
Our first lesson
So there are 2 types of Pilates – Matwork and Reformer. I have tried Matwork Pilates before but never tried Pilates Reformer before. I was really excited! :)
The husband asked me if it’s safe for me to do Pilates and all. I rolled my eyes and said, “it’s a PRENATAL PILATES class dude”. The one we are going for is specially designed for mums-to-be in their 2nd or 3rd trimester! And there will be other pregnant women and their husbands beside us too!
I love how small their class sizes are – maximum of 5 couples.
Here are some pictures from our fun class!
Our Prenatal Pilates class today was more focused on work for the upper body. My arms and shoulders are mad weak already because of the lack of exercise since I got pregnant. It was actually more challenging (in a good way) than I thought it would be and a lot more fun.
There were techniques we needed to be aware of so as to engage the right muscle group. Our instructor was very patient and super cool about it all. :P
I’m so glad the husband enjoyed himself and found the variations that the instructor gave him challenging enough not to be bored.
We don’t get to exercise together often and I think this is a great way to bond and spend time together!
Prenatal Pilates is a safe, effective and low-impact exercise that gives high-impact results that will benefit you in the long run. You can check them out too if this is your cup of tea too. :)
