Hola!! I am so addicted to having a new trendy hair colour these days! :) Caely, my stylist, has given me the confidence to try any colour, even blonde! I went back to see Caely for a touchup to my hair back in December last year.
December is their peak season so I decided to go on a weekday but they enjoy really good steady traffic even on what I’ll consider an off peak day! As usual, Caely assessed my hair and I also pretty much left it up to her what she wants to do with my hair (yesss I trust her that much!).
My key problems were:
– frizzy ends,
– black regrowth, and
– top half of my head now has naturally wavy hair that has never been rebonded or permed.
Here were her recommendations:
– Cut off 2 inches of my dry hair ends
– Lighthen my hair roots
– Cosmic Cream Treatment (aka soft rebonding)
– Whole head dye to Coral Beige Brown, thereby giving me a darker and healthier looking colour
Caely advised that I should not perm and do rebounding on the same part of the hair otherwise it may frizz up, so we only did Cosmic Cream treatment on the top half of my head. Most of the bottom part of my hair has been permed in February 2014 and I haven’t done any other perming or rebounding since then.
Cosmic Cream treatment gives you the same results as rebonding. I love how natural the effects are and how EASY to maintain my hair is!
Coral Beige Brown
I told Caely that the colour I liked the most so far is the Coral Brown. Taking inspiration from that, Caely mixed a Coral Beige Brown shade for me.
You can see the above picture of my hair has tinges of coral blended in with the brown in there. The beige would show up later.
The Process
But as always when it comes to dealing with pre-lightened hair + hair colour, you need to have a very experience stylist who can plan for not just how you look when you walk out of the salon but also how you’ll look 30~60 washes after you leave the salon!
Caely always tells me what colour to expect after the initial top colour has washed off and we agree on that and work backwards, so that there’s never any surprises. Not when my hair is dried at the salon and not after 30 washes.
After 30 Washes
After 30 washes (approximately 30 days), ta-dah…!! A lovely, lovely Coral Beige Brown which I SUPER LOVE!!! I love how “3D” this colour is. With the addition of ash, my brown colour is given that extra bit of sophistication. During my recent trip to Japan, I was awed at how pretty everybody’s hair is!! Browns are never just browns. Ash browns, ash blondes are all very popular there.
Super love my hair colour. :)
