Yoogane Singapore

Yoogane (pronounced yoo-ga-nay) is the popular chicken galbi restaurant from Busan Korea and it has recently opened its first outlet at Bugis Junction! I read about the opening of this at some food blog (can’t remember which) and I decided to head on down to try it!

Last I tried this was at some obscure shopping mall when I last went to Bangkok. I really loved the concept of having people cook the meat that’s marinated in their spicy korean sauce in front of me and add all that yummy rame, rice, cheese, vegetables, etc.

Btw, there are already long queues forming outside Yoogane (you know how Singaporeans are).  My colleagues and I decided to make a trip to Bugis Junction for lunch one day and thankfully there was no queue. We were quickly seated.

We ordered the Chicken Galbi ($14.90) here and added rice cakes.

The 1 person portion is exactly enough for 1 person. So order according to the number of people you have. The meat was well marinated (maybe a little too saucy), tender and delicious. It went very very well with the rice cake, and the vegetables. I suppose if you love rice, adding rice and cheese would make this dish more awesome too.

Here’s another one we ordered – Chicken Galbi with Chukkumi Octopus ($19.90). To be honest, once you order one, every other dish tastes the same cos the sauce is the same. So really, how you decide what to order is just to choose what meat you like.

You see the noodles above? That’s sticky noodles. OMG YOU MUST ORDER THIS. It goes so well with the sauce!!

There’s also a complimentary freeflow “vegetable bar”. I can’t really call it salad bar because as you can see, it’s just chopped cabbage (me love), kimchis and some pickled thing. The kimchi was pretty authentic.

I’d say, definitely go and try this! I enjoyed my lunch and will be back soon. I do hope that the next time I am back, service can be faster! The cooking took almost foreverrrrr ok la, we were hungry. :)
