Let’s talk about Prenatal Facial for pregnant mummies. I always believe that good skin will give you the beauty and confidence you need, more than what makeup can do for you. And good skin starts from taking care of it!
I have a regular place I usually go to when I wasn’t pregnant, a place that had a lot of high tech machines to treat various skin problems and a lot of products with ingredients that are all NOT suitable for pregnant mummies. Be sure to inform your facial therapist before you start any treatment!
Fun fact: My facial therapist was the 2nd person whom I told about my pregnancy. Haha!
Anyway I was quite convinced to just somehow survive on having no facial till I gave birth. Don’t ask me what’s the grand plan for this.
Along the way, I realised that luck (and probably age) is not on my side and I didn’t get as glowly, blemish-free skin as I had during my first pregnancy. I started having a lot of clogged pores and I noticed skin pigmentation. During my regular prenatal treatments with Valerie at Nouri Face & Body Concepts, I found out more about her prenatal facial treatments and decided to give that a try.
Make sure you are aware of what your prenatal facial is really about.
Valerie’s products are handmade, chemical free, no parabens, no preservatives (got to be used quickly), and formulated for expectant mums and their baby.
The most important question I had for her was, why makes you different from others?
Now that I’ve tried her prenatal facial, here’s what makes her stand out:
- All products used during the prenatal facial treatment are specially formulated to be safe and suitable for you and your baby.
- Her customers love her for the detailed skin extraction she does with every treatment (each facial lasts 1.5 to 2 hours!)
- Her experience dealing with pregnant mummies will come in very valuable as she does her best to make you feel comfortable about lying down for so long.
- Her prenatal facial treatments are customised and skewed to treat common skin problems of pregnant mummies.
At my last prenatal facial with her, she first cleansed my face with a cleansing milk (her very own formulation which you can’t find elsewhere). I like how clean and hydrating the cleansing milk was. Turns out it was her top selling product, well loved by her regulars for the deep cleansing effect and skin brightening effects.
Next she did a very in depth extraction for me, even expertly removing this little white head that has grown at the edge of my eye. It is so irritating to feel that white head every morning when I put on concealer!! Finally it’s gone and she removed it without causing any redness or infection.
She took great care applying an anti-inflammatory balm on my face to help calm the skin after extraction. Pigmentation and uneven skin tone was also an issue after I got pregnant so she applied a multi-vitamin concentrate that’ll help to combat these issues. Again, all suitable for expectant mums!
She really thought of everything, including a face massage with a calming ampoule.
The specially formulated rice mask was next. It was a thick concoction that helps to cool down the skin (you know how pregnant mummies always feel so hot), combat the release of oil as well as give the skin a tightening effect.
It was definitely a long overdue facial my poor hormonal imbalanced skin needed!
It was a little challenging to lie for 2 hours on a bed but Valerie took great care of me, often allowing me to shift, and to also provide me with pillows to prop my feet and support my aching butt.
Thank you Valerie for taking such good care of me! :)
If you’re reading this because you’re looking for prenatal facial treatment, do send Valerie an inquiry though her form here and see what she recommends for you. Do tell her you read about her from this blog and she’ll definitely give you a little something extra.
